Pontormo
Jacopo Carrucci ( Pontorme , near to Empoli, May 24th 1494 - Florence, January 2nd 1557), known under the name of Jacopo da Pontormo , or more simply he Pontormo , was a painter of the school florentine and one of the most important representatives of the movement mannerist in the painting of the 16th century.
Biography
It is orphan at 10 years of a father painter. It is sent to Florence where it will pass the remainder of its life there. In 1511, it enters the workshop of Andrea del Sarto. There remain only a few years there. It will take again the manner of painting of Sarto between 1514 and 1516.It is considered by its contorsionnées installations, of the particular prospects, its nonnatural colors, of craniums often bald people.
During the two last years of its life, it holds even a newspaper on its very detailed daily life, newspaper which one will find walled in the vault San Lorenzo.
