Pontederiaceae

The family of the Pontédériacées is a family of plants Monocotylédone S. According to Watson & Dallwitz it includes/understands 30 Espèce S divided into 9 kind S:

  • Eichhornia, Eurystemon, Heteranthera, Monochoria, Hydrothrix, Pontederia, Reussia, Scholleropsis, Zosterella .

They are plants herbaceous, watery, more or less succulent, floating or fixed by roots, hot moderate areas with tropical.

In this family, one can quote the Jacinthe of water (kind Eichhornia ) a floating species very invading tropical rivers. It, in addition, in less favorable climate, is used like plants ornament in the watery gardens.

The phylogenetic classification place today this family in the order of the Commelinales .
