Pont de Peney
The bridge of Peney is a Pont road and pedestrian on the the Rhone, located in the Canton of Geneva, in Suisse.
Localization
The bridge of Peney is the fourteenth bridge upstream of the Rhone after its exit of the Lac Léman. It connects the localities of Peney on Right Bank and of Surface-the-City on left bank and is located at a few meters upstream mouth of the Nant d' Avril in the Rhone.
History
The first bridge carried out with Peney goes back to 1852 in the form of a Suspended bridge in wire which breaks during the bearing tests and causes the death of 27 people. The following year, a bridge in Bois is carried out at the same place and remains in place during more than 40 years, until in 1895, when it is replaced by a metal work.In 1942, the creation of the Barrage of Verbois causes the widening of the Rhone and the need for creating a new bridge, the old one not being enough long to cross the river.
At the beginning of the Years 1980, the beams show traces of infiltrations of water and of rust and degrade themselves quickly. A Laboratoire is elected and carries out a complete examination of the bridge in August 1985 and concludes with a degeneration from the Béton, particularly because of the Saumure used in Hiver to salt the Route.
April 29th, 1993, a credit of: 2400000 Swiss francs is thus voted by the Grand the Council Genevese for renovation work of the bridge.
Technical description
It is about a work in reinforced concrete made up of a Tablier supported by two longitudinal beams which take support on four Pilier S doubles and the Culée S. Under the apron, a Passerelle out of concrete allows the passage of several Canalisation S.
