Pont de Buda

The Bridge of Buda (in Dutch: Budabrug ) one bridge-raising industrial is equipped with a sumptuous metal structure on the channel with Neder-Over-Heembeek ( Brussels-city), inaugurated in 1955 by the prince Albert.

This bridge finds its name and its origin in the name of a farm of the 17th century and clearly refers to the high city of Budapest, in Hungary.

This work of civil engineering points out industrial and economic rise Port of Brussels. The current bridge was built to replace a first bridge finished in 1934, a few years after the completion of the outer harbor, and destroyed during the Second world war.

It is at this place, between the Senne and the channel, that rises the purification plant of Brussels-North dimensioned to treat two thirds remaining of waste water of the capital.
