Pont Cadran Solaire

The Bridge Sundial (in English: Sundial Bridge ) is a Pont which spans the Fleuve Sacramento with Redding in California.

It was conceived by Santiago Calatrava and was finished in 2004 at a cost of: 23000000 of dollars. It connects the two sections of the park of exploration of Turtle Bay. Its design is similar to the Pont of Alamillo (1992) to Seville in Spain. Its Tablier is covered with a structure in translucent Verre.

This pedestrian bridge comprises a simple mast of 66  m which can be used as style for a Sundial, which can be read in a garden in the north of the bridge. But, from this point of view, the mast is rectified too much: 49° compared to the horizontal one instead of the 40,6° corresponding to the latitude of Redding. The shade projected by the mast is precise one Jour by year: the Solstice of be.
