Pont (mechanics)
See also: Bridge (homonymy)
The bridge indicates the body ensuring the transmission the two wheels of same axles on a automobile Véhicule.
A bridge breaks up into:
- an axis receiving the outgoing couple of the Gear box.
- This axis involves the Cage of a Différentiel, either by a Endless screw, or by a side Engrenage.
- the differential distributes this movement with the output shafts, proportionally with the resistive torque which they meet.
- the exits are connected to the wheels via halfshafts, either integrated into the bridge (bridge rigid), or by halfshaft provided with joint cardan (rear axle with independent suspension and front axles).
In a Garage or a workshop of mechanics, a bridge is also a device making it possible to raise a vehicle in order to work on its lower part.
By extension, one speaks about overhead travelling crane or bridge of transshipment to indicate a mobile kind of crane circulating on a bridge which moves itself on a system of Rail S located in height, making it possible to tranship goods between two points of a workshop, a boat to a quay or between two trains, ect…
