Pond of Lachamp

The pond of Lachamp is located at a few kilometers in the south-west of the borough of Manzat, with 820 meters of altitude. It is a natural pond of approximately 13 hectares located in one of the rare wetlands of the solid mass of the Monts Domes, in the north of the Regional natural park of the volcanos of Auvergne.

The pond is fed out of water by the sources of the Morge which are in the vicinity.

The fauna and the Flore which it shelters contain of the specific species, of which some as the Crapaud calamite are protected with the title from the convention from Bern. The pond became a place of conservation for nature: three species of bird which live here are registered on the red list of the threatened species.

In this landscape of Marsh, dominated by the Silhouette of the Volcano S, pushes a typical flora of the Tourbière like the Carex or the Saule.
