Ponchin (family)
The Ponchin are a family of painter S Marseilles, which were distinguished at the 19th century and the 20th century.
One can distinguish two generations.
- the first generation is made up of Louis Ponchin and Joseph Ponchin . They primarily carried out paintings of kind at the beginning of the 19th century. Joseph signs the majority of his works by " ponchin neveu" , in reference to his/her uncle Louis.
- the second generation is formed by Antoine Ponchin (1872 - 1934) and his son Jos-Henri Ponchin (1897 - 1981). These two painters are primarily landscape designers, and raise of the school of Provence marked by Jean-Baptiste Olive. Paintings of Antoine of it are very close besides by their luminosity, even if the use of the pink and the mauve in this painter rather easily makes it possible to identify them. Jos-Henri has as for him paints three great types of work: Indochinese landscapes at the beginning of career, of the southernmost landscapes, and the animalist subjects, often of the lacquers of fish and birds.
