Pomponne de Bellièvre

Pomponne de Bellièvre was a statesman French, negotiator, born with Lyon in 1529 and dead the September 5th 1607.
It was Chancelier of France (1599 - 1605).

After studies with Toulouse and Padoue, it becomes to advise at the Parliament of Chambéry, where it starts a career of diplomat where it was charged by Henri III with various diplomatic missions which will make him traverse Europe, of which the England where it will in vain try to obtain the grace of Marie Stuart near the queen Elisabeth. In 1564, as ambassador it manages to maintain the republic of the Grisons in the Alliance Fran1caise. He follows Henri III at the time of his return to France, and is named there superintendent of finances. In 1576, it is given like hostage to Jean Casimir of Palatinat to guarantee the execution of the edict of Beaulieu.
In June 1594, it completes the work of tender of the town of Lyon, puts an end to the Consulate and drives out the Jesuits.
In the same way, it will negotiate with Sillery the Paix of Vervins in 1598 with the Spain.

- 1568 - 1571: President of the Présidial of Lyon.
National career
- 1575 - 1588: Superintendent of finances,
- 1576 - 1580: President with mortar of the Parliament of Paris.
- 1588 - 1599: Superintendant (in the facts) of justice and finances in Lyon.
- 1599 - 1605: Chancellor of France. The seals are withdrawn to him in 1605, but there remains the chief of the private council.
He is the father of 14 children including 3 wire remained famous:
- Albert de Bellièvre (death in 1621), archbishop of Lyon of 1599 with 1604.
- Claude de Bellièvre (death in 1612), archbishop of Lyon of 1604 with 1612.
- Nicolas de Bellièvre (1583 - 1650), president with mortar of the Parliament of Paris.
- Pomponne II of Bellièvre, died in 1657, first president at the Parliament of Paris
