Pomarez
Pomarez is a common French, located in the department of the Landes and the area Aquitaine.
Geography
History
The territory of common knew a Roman presence and perhaps even prehistoric. The name of Pomarez probably comes from Latin pomarium , who means orchard of apple trees.The vestiges d´un round bell-tower associated with a rectangular tower date from the 11th century and 12th century.
The half-timbered houses go back to the 16th century.
Economy
Traditional L economy is composed of l´agriculture (cereals, vine) and of l´élevage of ducks and cows. The products are sold with the fairs, the market and the restaurants. The tradition of the Race landaise, c´est to say the combat with the bulls without setting to death attracts beaucoups spectators.
Transport
There are several secondary roads which cross in Pomarez (D 3, D 7, D 15). Of l´autoroute 64 it has is necessary to take exit 7 (Dirty-of-Béarn) or 8 (Orthez) while directing towards north. For the pedestrians there are only narrow pavements in the central street of the commune. One can reach the tourist areas of the Pyrenees and l´Océan Atlantique to a hundred km. With the ray d´action of 40 km there are the towns of Dax in the North-West, Mount-with-Marsan in north and Orthez in the south.

the arenas : belonging to the first entirely covered arenas of France and containing more than 3000 people, they accommodate each tauromachic year about fifteen events (mainly of the races landaises, in addition to the regular drives of the school taurine).
One can note the races of Pentecost particularly, of 1st Sunday of August, and that of August 15th, which have the appearance of a reference in the tauromachic season of the Moors.
The arenas contributed to give to Pomarez its name mecque of the race landaise .
They shelter also other types of events such as finales of basketball, concerts or spectacles various.
Annual events
the employers' Festivals ( festivals to crunch ) initially take place during a long weekend including dated August 15th. But for reasons of multitude (these festivals took place at the same time as the famous festivals of Dax, close to only 20 km) the festivals of Pomarez take place nowadays a weekend earlier.But the principle remains the same one: there are demonstrations taurines, sporting and cultural. There is also to drink and eat, the whole in a great joy!

the Sporting union Pomarezienne , association multisports: judo, tennis, table tennis, tennis shoe (club of the STOCK) and Rugby (team twice champion of France in 1989 and 2001)the strong Harmony Pomarezienne of more than 80 musicians: the harmony finances (partly) by many concerts a music school which trains musicians able to become future members of the harmony.
