Polymicrogyrie

The polymicrogyrie is mainly a anomaly of the cortical organization of the neurons probably by a disorder of the migration of the Neuron S at the origin of the last cellular layers of the cerebral Cortex: the cerebral cortex is thicker with multiples convolution S.

The polymicrogyrie can be localized at a single zone of a cerebral lobe or on the contrary generalized with the whole of the cortex. The clinical demonstrations of this disease depend especially on wide on this anomaly: those are sometimes named stable central nervous system disorders static encephalopathy . These demonstrations are sometimes tiny or very important with demonstrations visual, auditive, driving or cognitive. The more serious forms include/understand Backwardness major and refractory epilepsy with the treatment.

The diagnosis rests only on the Imagerie with magnetic resonance I.R.M of a polymicrogyrie. The polymicrogyrie can be isolated or associated with other anomalies: Sterility of the callous body, Schizencéphalie. The principal differential diagnoses are the Pachygyrie and the Lissencéphalie.

The Prévalence of this disease is unknown but certainly rare.

Causes of the polymicrogyrie

Infectious
All infections in utero can be responsible for polymicrogyrie: Toxoplasmose, Cytomegalovirus, Chicken pox, Syphilis. One will bring closer the transfuser-transfused syndrome to it.
Hereditary
