Polymathe
A polymathe (of the Greek polymathēs , πολυμαϑής, wanting to say “knowing, including/understanding or having learned in quantity”, of the roots πολυ- for “much” and μαθ- for “training”) is an individual with varied and deepened knowledge, in particular of knowledge in Art and Science. One says sometimes Homme of universal spirit .
A polymathe excels in many fields which are not necessarily connected. Some famous examples of polymathes: Emanuel Swedenborg, Léonard de Vinci, Thomas Young, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Isaac Asimov, Henri Poincaré…
