Polydore wire of Priam

In the Greek Mythology, Polydore or Polydoros (in Greek old Πολύδωρος / Polýdoros ) is a Trojan prince . He is the son junior by Priam and Hécube according to Hygin or by Laothoé according to Homère.

Myth

According to Homère it acts by bravado during the head office of Troy and is killed by Achille.

According to Hygin, it is high in Thrace in the king Polymnestor husband of his sister Iliona. After the fall of Troy, the Greeks wanting to eliminate all Priamides propose a money large sum with Polymnestor to get rid of Polydore. This one accepts but keep silent involuntarily his/her own Déipyle son because Iliona had inverted both nourissons in order to protect his brother. Iliona reveals to him whereas he was not the son of Polymnestor and on his councils the king killed.

According to Ovide, Priam sends his/her son near of Polymnestor in order to protecting it from the war. After the fall of Troy, Polymnestor kills Polydore in order to monopolize the richnesses which had entrusted to him his/her father. It throws then its corpse in the sea since a tower. His/her Hécube mother while arriving to Thrace discovers the body of her son and avenges it by killing Polymnestor.
