the Army of dead the ( Dawn off the Dead ) is an American film carried out by Zack Snyder, left the March 10th 2004. It is a remake of the film Zombie carried out in 1978 by George A. Romero. The premises and the central place are the same ones, but the history differs significantly.

Synopsis

Anna, nurse, return her animated day's work and rest in the arms of his/her companion. The next morning, the girl of this last, awfully mutilated, penetrates in their room and bites his father with the neck seriously; it is transformed practically at once into death living and tries to attack it. Anna succeeds in of accuracy fleeing… With Kenneth, a police officer, it meets another group of people who move towards the only place which can still be used to them as refuge - a shopping mall. The life is thus organized, intersected by famished raids of zombies whereas the ammunition become exhausted. Their only hope: to flee again…

Reactions

Strongly turned in derision by the fans of the original version and the critic before her exit, the film nevertheless received positive reactions on the two sides at its exit, particularly for the first 10 minutes of introduction preceding the credits. This sequence was presented on television a week before the exit of film, a practice become common since.

Others estimated that the film did not preserve the social satire and the intensity of the original. Romero itself, which issued large reserves about some elements of film, declared then that it had found film better than it had anticipated it.

Change compared to the original version

From the point of view of the scenario, Zombie and the Army of dead the differ very clearly, at the point where only the place of the action (a super market) and the original title ( Dawn off the dead ) remain unchanged. The main characters are not the same ones in two films, and their life inside the store is organized completely differently. The sequence where the protagonists benefit from the leisures that offer an empty department store where all is at disposal free however was preserved.

With dimensions one of the zombies and their propagation one also notes deep changes. In the original, the appearance of the zombies is slow and several months are necessary before they have invades the United States. In the remake, in one night the whole world is touched. Whereas the action of Zombie began in a world already populated from zombies (at least partially), the Army of dead the starts before the appearance of deaths alive.

The characteristics of the monsters are not either the same ones in the remake. Whereas in film of very dead Romero returned to the life independently in the way in which it was deceased, in the remake only the bitten people undergo this fate.

Important aspect and strongly noticed, the zombies of the Army of dead the are much more dangerous and violent one that those of this kind of film, tetralogy of Romero included. In original film, the zombies move very slowly and are more threatening when they are gathered in great groups. In the remake they are able to move much more quickly, they can run or to jump, they also seem to have an unlimited resistance (one sees them for example running after a car on several kilometers). Many admirors of the original (and Romero itself) protested particularly on this change, estimating that limits the impact of thealive one. This is slightly confirmed by the fact that in the remake almost firearms which can stop death-alive more one or two seconds ago. Snyder mentions this problem in comment in a sequence of the DVD, specifying that they seem too human when the camera is delayed on them one moment.

Zombies

According to works, the characteristics of the zombie S and propagation of the infection, differ. In this film, if a person is bitten rather seriously to result in death directly, it will be transformed into zombie a few seconds after its death. If the bite is not directly mortal, the infection will be propagated slowly for finally transforming the person into zombie.
