Introduction

The polocrosse is a team game with Cheval which is mainly played in the the Commonwealth. Mix sports shirt and Amerindian play Lacrosse, it is played horse on pre of the size of a football field. Each player uses a racket comparable with a scoop in which the light and elastic foam ball is carried. The diameter of the ball is of approximately 10 cm.

Rules

The players can have master keys by using their racket, collect the ball with ground or run up against the racket of an adversary. The goal is to mark the maximum of goals in time of play.

With the difference of the Sports shirt, the players have the right to assemble one horse during the duration of the competition. This characteristic of this sport is forced in order to encourage the reasonable management of the capital health of the horses. All the races of horses can play, for example the Henson. However with high level, mountings used are often English Pur-sang.

A team is made up of six players, divided into two sections of three, which alternatively play of the eight minutes maximum Chukkas one duration each one. A match is composed of six to eight chukkas.

The roles in each section are clearly defined:

  • number 1 is the assailing one. It is only authorized to mark goals.
  • number 2 is the leader of play. It is confined at the zone of the medium ground
  • number 3 is the defender. It is only authorized to prevent unfavourable number 1 from drawing with the goal.
This structure of team was conceived to force the players to occur the ball to mark a goal in order to produce a more technical play, faster, air in a more attractive word to look at. It also makes it possible to save the horses of the players who are not concerned temporarily any more with the phase of play.

The official ground has dimensions of 55 X 146.5 Mr. It is divided into three zones. The zones of shooting to the goal at each end of ground in which only number 1 attacker and unfavourable number 3 have the right to penetrate and the zone of the medium, 90 m length, where everyone can play. The goals make 2,50 m broad. A goal is not accepted if the shooting is not carried out from the zone of shooting to the goal and at least 4 m of the goals. It is interdict to cross a line of the ground while carrying the ball in its racket: a team-member must make the master key with the top of the line or the rider must pose the ball with ground, then to cross the line and to catch up with the ball. This movement is called the " bounce" (rebound).

In France

In France in 2006, the polocrosse is applied only to the Marquenterre by a team assembled in horses Henson.
