History
Panorama
Roman presence: foundation of fort, aqueduct now disappeared. At the origin, to the 13th century, Pollionnay belonged to the counts de Lyon, then to the XVI°, was set up in baronnie depend on the archpriest of Courzieu. The last lord of Pollionnay was the marquis de Lorras carried out in 1793. The commune includes/understands a castle dating from the 15th century, with a keep built on the ruins of a Roman fortress. A few blocks of stone at the base testify some. Mentioned as of the 13th century, various documents attest that it depended on the jurisdiction of the chapter of Saint-Just and was served by the parish of Holy-Consorce under the obedience of Grézieu-The-Game preserve. It was yielded to the lord of Pollionnay in 1577. Restored at the 17th century, it keeps Lyons Romanesque architecture, the arched apse with flat bedside and its small bay. The bell-tower and the cross of the cemetery of the 17th century deserve the attention.

- Eugenie Brazier (1895 - 1977): celebrate large chief cook French (2 times three stars with the Guide Michelin for its two restaurants of Lyon and the collar of Luère with Pollionnay) of 1933 with 1968.
- Genevieve Dumont: sculptor of Article Genevieve-Dumont Association exposes to Pollionnay works of Genevieve Dumont, woman sculptor impassioned by the use of modern materials. Its esthetic research led it to a deeply original art. Teaching the visual arts, it carried out many public orders, in particular in the region of Lion.

The urban organization
The old core of the borough is organized starting from the crossing of the RD 70 with the avenue Mr. Guerpillon and the road of the Cross of the Round of applause. Historically, it is of modest size. Many hamlets structure the territory of the commune supplemented by a diffuse habitat, source of mitage of the landscape. Pollionnay counted 1.580 inhabitants in 1999 for a density of 100 inhabitants to the square km. The annual rhythm of construction was of 9 residences per annum between 1999 and 2003.
