Pollack

The pollack ( Pollachius pollachius ) is a Poisson. The close species Pollachius virens is called black Lieu.

Distribution

The pollack lives close to the Rocher S, along the Littoral with the state Juvénile, and it moves away from there at the age Adulte.

One meets it between 1 m and 100 m of depth in Atlantique, Manche, the North Sea, West of the Baltique and the Mediterranean.

Description

Pollachius pollachius is a Poisson which can reach 1,2 m length. Its body is lengthened and flattened laterally. It has three dorsal fins and two anal fins. Its Mâchoire lower is larger than its Mâchoire higher. The side Ligne is quite visible: it is curved with the pectoral tops of the . Its Coloration is variable: the back is generally Brun - Vert, the belly and the sides are clear with yellow spots of irregular form.

The flesh of the pollack resembles much that of the Cabillaud (or Morue), with a more delicate taste.
