Political power

See also: To be able

The to be able Politique is a type of being able that a person or a group of anybody exerts in a company.

There exists in many ways to exert such a power, most obvious being that of the official political leader of a State, such as a President, a Prime Minister, a King or a Empereur. The political powers are not limited to the Heads of State or the leaders, and the extent of a capacity is measured with the social influence that the person or the group can have, and this influence can be exerted and used officially or semi-officially. In much of case the sphere of influence is not contained in only one State and one speaks then about international power. Traditionally, the political power is based and maintained by means of the power Militaire, by accumulating the richnesses and by acquiring knowledge.

The history is filled of examples where the political power was used harmfully or in a foolish way (Abuse of power). This occurs, generally, when too many being able is concentrated in not enough hands, without enough of place for the political debate, public criticism, or other forms of corrective pressures. Examples of such modes are the Despotisme, the Tyrannie, the Dictature, etc

To counter such potential problems, certain people thought and put in practice various solutions, whose majority rest on the division of the capacity (such as the Démocratie S), the limitations of the capacity of an individual or a group, the increase in the individual protective duties, the installation of a legislation or charters (such as that of the Human rights). Montesquieu affirmed that without a principle making it possible to contain and balance the Legislative power, the executive powers and legal, it has there no more no freedom, nor no protection against the abuse of power. It is the principle of the Séparation of the capacities.
