Political Remix

The political remix indicates a Mixage audio of words of politicians or media, with a basic soundtrack made up of Sample S (or sometimes of known Chanson S).

The increasingly simple use of techniques of sampling and Mixage makes it possible to create musical pieces with a computer, and allowed the birth of this new musical form. This term is employed little, the creators of this type of music not having given him a particular name.

The movement is presented in the form of a protestor, seeking to reinterpret the political discourses, and to transform the set language which characterizes them sometimes, into a new speech, comic or absurd.

Sub-genus

This exercise of Détournement can even be mixed so as to give an illusion of Chant. It is what does, in 2002, the Malto type-setter with his CD Belle Countryside . This kind of remix was called by its producer the “scotching”.

The question of legality

France

Article 226-8 of the penal code condemns (up to 100.000 FR.) any assembly using voice or image of a person without her assent. The re-use of words of public speeches without agreements of their authors thus seems struck of illegality. But it is also possible to regard them as Parodie S if there does not exist possibility of slandering.

Concerning the Sample S basic sound, the question joined that of the samples in general.
