Policy of Corsica

The Corsica is a French Territorial collectivity equipped with a particular status.

Organization

In 1991, the Région of Corsica became Corsican territorial collectivity (CTC) and is equipped since this date with a particular political statute which gives him a political autonomy and administrative reinforced compared to the French Areas.

The Parliament

The territorial Assemblée of Corsica is the deliberative body of the Community. It consists of 51 advisers elected for six years by the universal direct suffrage. The last elections proceeded the 21 and March 28th 2004.

She votes the lawful budget and acts entering competences of the community. She can moreover propose with the Gouvernement French to modify legislative measures and/or lawful relating to the island.

She elects her President in her center for six years.

Camille de Rocca Serra (UMP) is the current President of the Parliament.

The Executive council

The Executive council of Corsica is the executive body of the community. It includes/understands 9 members elected by the Parliament among her members for six years.

It is this body which makes the characteristic of Corsica. Whereas in the other French Areas, it is the President of the District council which exerts at the same time the executive and the presidency of the deliberating assembly, these two functions are separate in Corsica.

The Parliament can however reverse the Council as a voter against him a motion of censure by 26 votes (absolute majority).

It is currently the UMP Ange Santini which chairs the Council.
