Policeman

General presentation

The policeman works closest to the public.
He carries assistance and assistance with the people, prevents the acts of Délinquance and continues the malfaiteurs.
Its work is as well carried out in services of investigation, of information, units of intervention or maintenance of the ordre.
Equipped with a behavior of uniform, the policeman can be caused to work as a civilian according to his mission.

Missions

The policeman makes respect the law and order and guarantees the protection of the goods and the people. He ensures a role of safety and dissuasion. He notes the infringements with the lois.

He assumes different tasks according to the police services where he is affected, for example:

In public safety, it supervises the public highway and regulates circulation. In the event of problems, it intervenes urgently on the spot. It is what is called the " Secours" organizes;.
In the republican companies of safety (CRS), it is in charge of the maintenance of law and order. It takes care of the good progress of the demonstrations, ensures the guard of the official buildings and control the overflows (ex: Events of the Station of North in Paris)
In the Police force at the borders (PAF), it controls the displacement of the people and the goods.

Legal enabling

A training policeman has the statute of assistant Agent of judicial police defined in article 21-1 of the Criminal procedure code.

A titular policeman has the statute of Agent of judicial police defined in article 20 of the Criminal procedure code.

After an examination, it can acquire the qualification of Judiciary police officer defined in article 16 of the Criminal procedure code.

Ranks

The policeman is the first ranks of the body of framing and application. This body include/understand 4 ranks and 3 names.

Before their establishment and during their formation, the policemen pass by two levels one duration one year each one: raise policeman then training policeman. The policemen having worked twelve years after their establishment are called " under-brigadiers" and carry a particular badge.

The policeman will be able to go up in the hierarchy thanks to examens.
He will be able to also try the internal competitions of Police officer or Commissaire.

Recruitment

The policemen are recruited by two distinct contests:

the first contest is opened to the candidates, to holders of the baccalaureat or an equivalent diploma, at least seventeen years old and thirty-five years with more at January 1st of the year of the contest and French nationality;
the second contest is, within the limit of 40% of the employment offered to recruitment, opened:

with the associated safety at least cash two years of service in this quality;
with the juniors by the Republic at the conclusion of their one year initial professional training.

; Conditions of physical capacity

Of size: to measure at least 1,60 m;
Of vision: after correction, at least equal to 15 tenth for the two eyes, with a minimum of 5 tenth for an eye, each corrective lens or lens having a maximum of three dioptres to reach this limit of 15 tenth;
Of weight: to have an index of body mass ranging between 21 and 30, terminals included;
physical Good condition.

; General terms

To have virgin police records;
To be listed and to have achieved the day of call of preparation with defense, JAPD (candidates born after the 12/31/1978).

; Tests of the contest

composition on a subject of topicality allowing to judge the coherence of the reasoning and the quality of expression of the candidate;
multiple-choice questionnaire allowing to appreciate the interest of the candidate for the events which make the topicality as its general level of knowledge in relation to the French and European political framework institutional, the rules of the behavior citizen and the whole of the basic concepts in the school disciplines;
psychotechnical tests;
discussion with a jury;
physical tests;
oral test in foreign language (allowed languages: German, English, Arab, Spanish and Italian).
