Police station with solar energy

The Commissariat with solar energy (COMES) was a public corporation related to commercial industrial and French aiming at promoting the use of the solar energy.

History

Created by decree the March 9th 1978, the first Managing director of the COMES is Henry Durand, engineer of the School of the mines.

Following decree 82-404, the COMES amalgamates with several public agencies (the Agency for energy saving, the Committee Geothermics and the national Mission for the valorization of heat) to give birth the May 13rd 1982 to the French Agency for the control of energy (AFME). The latter becomes in 1992 the Agence of the environment and the control of energy (ADEME).

Objective

The COMES had the role the promotion of an energy policy implementing the renewable energies (photovoltaic, solar thermics, wind mill, hydraulics, of the biomass), as well as rational use and energy saving of the energy sources.

The COMES contributed to the definition of projects, their financing, and their evaluation. The COMES, which very early obtained a Service of the international businesses (created by the diplomat Jean-Jacques Subrenat), contributed to many projects in the multilateral framework or that of the bilateral relations between France and the countries partners.
