Polaris institute

The Polaris institute is a Think Canadian tank installed in Ottawa. It was constituted in 1997 in reaction to two trade agreements discussed made between the United States and Canada in 1989 (Accord of free trade canado-American) and 1994 (Accord of North-American free trade).

The organization was organized in five principal projects:

  • the public service project: it undertakes critical research on some of the principal multinational corporations and their lobbies.

  • the project of universalization of the base (Grassroots Globalization Project): it brings a help tactical and strategic to other organizations Canadian or foreign fighting against what is perceived like attacks of universalization.
  • the project Bio justice: it examines the relations between the companies, biotechnologies and the Canadian regulation.
  • the project undertaken - safety of State: it is interested in the relations between universalization and military security.
  • the project of the right of access to water: it analyzes the intrigues of the principal world companies in the field of the privatization of water.
