Polar day
The polar day is one period of the Année during which the Sun does not lie down. This phenomenon is observable in the polar regions beyond the polar circles Arctique and the Antarctic.
The number of days (12 midnight) during which this phenomenon takes place increases with the Latitude. It reaches its minimum (one day) on the level of the Polar circle and its maximum (six months) with the Pôle and takes place in summer (March at September in the northern Hemisphere, September at March in the Southern hemisphere).
Actually, because of the refraction of the light of the Sun in the atmosphere, this one is visible during the 24 hours of the day, at the time of the summer solstice, until a few tens of kilometers in on this side polar circle.
