Polícia militar

The Polícia Militar or PM is the name of the forces of military police force with the Brésil. This police force is also that of the States of Brazil, from which each one has its own body of military police force responsible for the respect of the Loi on the whole of the territory of the State. Although the name is that of Police military, their role is closer to that of a force of Gendarmerie, which means that it is a military organization as an operations manager of civil police force.

There exists also a " Forced Nacional de Segurança" (national Force of safety), created under the presidency of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, which is a national police force. This force is made up of more qualified personnel, coming from all the states. She cannot be used qua by the Head of the State for the crisis management of national level. She was used for the first time during the riots of the state of Espírito Santo.

Organization

The units of police force of State are divided into Bataillon S ( Batalhões de Polícia Militar or BPM ). These battalions themselves are divided into companies ( Companhias or the CIA. ) and these companies, organized in detachments ( estacamento Policial Militar or DPM ).

Each police force of state has its own uniform, arm-band of identification and anthem. Each battalion within a unit of police force has also its own arm-band for an easier identification.

Actions

The police forces of state have elements specialized in the anti-riot fight and against the organized crime called Batalhão de Choque (battalions of shock) and Batalhão de Missões Especiais (battalion of special operations). They have also a unit of information, called P2, elements of research and of investigation as well as a unit intern, charged organizes to take care of the integrity of his members. Certain police forces have also units of cavalry ( Cavaleria ).

According to the state, the Policia militar can have a different name.
