Polésine
The Polésine is a geographical area of the Venezia, in Italy. Located between the Po and the Adige, it includes/understands the totality of the Province of Rovigo, the southernmost part of the Province of Vérone and part of the commune of Cavarzere in the Province of Venice.
Polésine is limited:
- in north by the provinces of Padoue and Venice,
- in the south by that of Ferrare,
- in the west by that of Mantoue,
- in the east by the Adriatic .
Polésine is made of Alluvions, improved by a network of canals irrigation which make it possible to cultivate the Beet sugar, the Maïs and the Soja.
The most important city is Rovigo (52.000 inhabitants), followed by Adria (20.000 inhabitants). The other agglomerations of importance are Badia Polesine, Arquà Polesine, Oporto Viro, Oporto Tolle, Loreo, Polesella, Lendinara and Lusia.
Polésine is crossed by the highway A13 and the trunk road 434 Transpolesana .
