Biography
Bret Michaels and Rikki Rockett form a first group, " Paris" , in 1983, in their town of Harrisburg, in the center of the Pennsylvania, quickly supplemented by Bobby Dall and the guitarist Matt Smith. They decide to leave to settle with Hollywood the following year. The guitarist D.C. DeVille, who played in various groups of Hard rock between New York and Los Angeles, replaces quickly Matt Smith, and the quartet becomes Poison. It adopts effeminate behaviors (scarves, make-up, hairstyle permed), kind of Hollywood version of the New York Dolls. After an association of short duration with the legendary contractor Kim Fowley, the group signs a contract with Enigma, a label of Capitol, in 1985. Recorded in twelve days, launched by the clip of " Talk Dirty To Me " on MTV and a round with Ratt, the album Look What The Cat Dragged In (1986) meets a striking down success: it receives a disc of triple platinizes (three million specimens sold with the the United States).
Open Up And Say… Ahh! (1988) made still better: quintuple platinizes, with a number one with the key, " Every Pink Has Its Thorn ". Flesh & Blood (1990) reached the same result, propelled by leaping " Unskinny Bop " (n°3).
After Swallow this Live (1991), the decline is fast. Michaels temporarily returns D.C. DeVille, whose practices of drug addict blunted his patience. Native Tongue (1993), a disc which wants to be more blues, is recorded with the young person and very good guitarist Richie Kotzen. The failure is obvious. At the end of the round, Kotzen, suspected of having had a connection with the woman of Rockett, is returned, replaced by Blues Saraceno. Since, D.C. DeVille joined Poison again.
In 2006, Poison celebrated its 20 years while turning to closed counters practically everywhere in the USA, at the time of the round " 20 Years off Rock" during which they divided the head of poster with Cinderella and Endeverafter.
