Poco

Poco is an American rock group formed in 1968 by Richie Furay and Jim Messina.

Biography

After the dissolution of the group Buffalo Springfield, Richie Furay (song and guitar) and Jim Messina (guitar and song) found Poco with Rusty Young (pedal steel and dobro), George Grantham (battery) and Randy Meisner (low and song).

Their first album `' Pickin' Up the Parts'' having taken delay, Meisner leaves the group to found The Eagles. It was replaced by Timothy B. Schmit.This time, George Grantham exploits as a beater all the pieces of the first album solo Neil Young quite simply entitled Neil Young. Grantham is not credited on the album where appears only the names of large the neil and of Ry Cooder (Oneself). Young will catch up with this lapse of memory that well later, a good score of years.

Poco and Deliverin followed, respectively in 1971 and 1972. It is then with the turn of Jim Messina to leave Poco to form a duet with Kenny Loggins.

After having recorded two other albums, has Good Feelin' to Know and Crazy Eyes , Richie Furay leaves also the group to form the Souther Hillman Furay Band. There is no more then of founding member in Poco.

The series of the departures continues in 1977, Schmit and Grantham are replaced by Steve Chapman and Charlie Harrison. Schmit again replaces Meisner, but this time within Eagles.

The new quartet records Legend then is joined by Kim Bullard for four new albums: Under the Gun , Blue and Gray , Cowboys and Englishmen and Ghost Town .

The group then separated then reformed on several occasions, while being sometimes joined punctually by its former members Furay, Schmit and Grantham.

Poco is always in activity, making rounds in the United States, Canada and in Europe and always recording albums. The group currently consists of Rusty Young, Paul Cotton (guitar and song), Jack Sundrud (low and song) and George Lawrence (battery).
