Po (department)

The Po was old a French department, having Turin for Chef-lieu and drawing its name from the river Po.

The department was created the September 11th 1802 under the name of department of Éridan (ancient name of the river), then renamed department of Po the September 20th 1802 per signed decree of the general administrator of Piedmont, the general Jean-Baptiste Jourdan.
