Plum tree myrobalan
The plum tree myrobalan , (often spelled wrongly myrobolan ), or plum tree-cherry , is a Fruit tree of the family of the Rosaceae .
Etymology
The Prunier myrobalan literally owes its name with the Greek μυροβάλανος (myrobalanos) “scented nipple”, composed of μύρον “perfume” and βάλανος “nipple”. It should be noted that one also indicates by the name of “myrobalan” the desiccated fruit of the Badamier. The Latin “myrobolanus” was also employed to indicate a particular fruit species in particular dried the plum which took the name of mirabella then which passed in French in the shape of mirabelle plum.
Use
The plum tree myrobalan is used as Porte-greffe because it multiplies well by Semis, it Drageon little, develops even in the poor grounds and gives fairly vigorous trees.One generally does not use it as understocks for the Abricotier because the point of Clerc's Office between apricot and the Myrobalan plum tree is fragile and sensitive to the wind.
