Plouvara is a common department of the Coast-with Armor, in the area Brittany, in France.

History

Plouvara comes from old Breton the " ploe" (parish) and of saint Bara (Holy Breton). Following names are met: Plevara (in 1184-1189), Ploevara (in 1198), eccl. of Plevara, Plebara (in 1202), Plevara (in 1206), Plovara, Plevara (in 1211), Plenarga, Plenaria (in 1225), Plevara (in 1264, 1296), Plovera (about 1330), Ploevara (in 1428), Plouvara (in 1603).
