Plougoumelen
Plougoumelen is a common French, located in the department of the Morbihan and the area Brittany.
Geography
History
At the 6th century, the community which is installed on the territory of Plougoumelen puts itself under the protection of Melaine Saint, bishop of Rennes. This community takes the name of Plou-Melen which will become later Plougoumelen. Thereafter, Holy Philibert, abbot of Noirmoutier, join Saint Melaine to protect the inhabitants. Plougoumelen is an old primitive parish which included the territory of the commune of the Bono.Following names are met: Parrochia de Cumelen (in 1219), Ploegomelen (in 1427,1448 and 1536), Plogomelen (in 1464 and 1477), Plougoumelan (in 1481).
The most important seigniory of Plougoumelen is that of Bridge Sal (cradle of the family of the same name) which passes then between the hands of the Launay family, of the family of Talhouët de Kerservant then of the family Botherel de Quintin.
Plougoumelen is set up in commune in 1790.
In 1947, Bono separates from Plougoumelen and becomes common to whole share.
