Ploufragan

Ploufragan (into Breton Ploufragan ) is a common French, located in Brittany in the department of the Coast-with Armor, in south-western suburbs of Saint-Brieuc. Its inhabitants is called Ploufraganais.

Ploufragan means “Plou de Fragan”. In Brittany, “Plou” indicates a nonreligious rural community, while “Lan” indicates a religious rural community (ex: Landivisiau). Saint Fragan is the name of the supposed founder of this community.

It is on its ground that the first aerodrome of Saint-Brieuc was built before it is increased and moved on the common neighbor of Trémuson.

The commune is primarily rural but comprises a great industrial park, the industrial park of Châtelets, which accommodates in particular a manufacturing plant of boilers.
