Ploudalmézeau

Ploudalmézeau ( Breton Gwitalmeze in ) is a common department of the Finistere, in the area Brittany, in France.

Lampaul-Ploudalmézeau comes from lann (monastery) and from Paul-Aurélien saint. Lampaul-Ploudalmézeau owes its origin with creation with the locality Villa $petri (today Kerber, in Lampaul) of a hermitage by Paul-Aurélien saint at the 6th century, with the site of the current church.

The population of Ploudalmézeau rises with 4  994 inhabitants (1999), mainly divided between the Borough, in the center of the commune, and Portsall ( Porsal ), on the coast.

  • the church Saint-Paul-Aurélien (16th century), partly destroyed by the lightning in 1855 and restored in 1856 by Guerrannic.
  • the vault of the Rosary or Roscervo (16th century), dedicated to holy Beard.
  • the vault of Kerber, dedicated to saint Pierre-be-bonds. It shelters a beam of glory and statues old: Pierre saint, holy Anne and the Virgin, Pietà and a Crucifix.
  • Several Cross or vestiges of cross: the cross Croaz-year-River mouth (1917), three crosses of Kergounan (Early middle ages), the cross of Kersquivit (Early middle ages), the cross of Kervidoret or Croas-Ambich (Early middle ages), the cross of the cemetery of Lampaul-Ploudalmézeau, the cross of mission of the cemetery (19th century), the cross Croas-Paul (14th century), the cross of Ty-Nevez (19th century);
  • vestiges of the manor of Carpont (15th century) built by the family Maucazre.
  • manors of Kerghin and Rocervo (- 17th century).
  • the Saint-Paul-Aurélien fountains, restored in 1952 and Kerber.
  • Cross of stone and Dolmen on the rock of Guilliguy dominating the port with Portsall.
  • the New Mill, animalist park and splendid gardens, open the every day to the public, admission free.
