Plouénan
Plouénan is a common department of the Finistere, in the area Brittany, in France.
Geography
Near to Mespaul, Plouénan is located at approximately 7 km in the south of Saint-Pol.-of-Leon, and in the west of the coastal river the Penzé and more beyond the common neighbor, Henvic.Plouénan belongs to the country of Leon or old évêché of Leon, Haut-Leon.Plouénan part also forms part of the gilded belt
Several hamlets compose Plouénan:
- " Kerlaudy" , to 1,5 km in the North-East, in direction of Carantec
- " Bridge-Éon" and " Lopreden" , in south-east, in direction of charming the small port of " Penzé" , depending him of 3 communes of Clink Guiclan and Plouenan for western bank. These 2 zones of habitat are established with the northern limit of the " Forest of Lannuzouarn ".
Administration
History
- Under the Revolution, 2 inhabitants were guillotines: the Vice-chancellor of the parish and Anna Pennannéac' h.

1910 : Representation with Plouénan of the play into Breton “ hard Heads ” reporting the events under the Revolution drawn partly from Emgann Kergidu . The battle had proceeded in limit of Plouénan.
At the beginning of the XXe century, Plouénan was famous for its basket makers with Bridge-éon and its sabot-makers with the borough.
- 1942: Raid of the Jews with Plouénan: Benjamin Ségaller and his Ella wife leave their small house of Kerléverien, taken along towards Auschwitz via Drancy by the local gendarmes while giving up very behind them. They could have passed to England thanks to friendships léonardes, but they refused not to give up their dog. The same year saw the arrest and the deportation of the tenant of the castle which had lodged aviators.
