The name of Ploarec appears only at the 13th century. Two acts of 1214 and 1239 give a report on the concession to the abbey of Boquen, by the lord of Châtelier, in Eréac, of four " mines" of wheat on the revenues in food which it has in Plorec.
Following names will be met: Ploarec (in 1214, 1239), Eccl. of Plorec (about 1330), par. S. $petri de Plourec (in 1380). The name of the commune becomes Plorec-on-Arguenon by decree of May 10th, 1954.
Under the Old Mode, Plorec-on-Arguenon is a parish of the diocese of Saint-Malo and has as a Lescouët branch (since Lescouët-Jugon). The old parish of Plorec-on-Arguenon concerned the subdelegation of Lamballe and the competence of Jugon. Plorec-on-Arguenon its first municipality at the beginning of 1790 elects.
By the ordinance of December 6th, 1827, Plorec yields to the common neighbor Bourseul the village of Hotel trade in exchange of the large oak grove of Wood-Bily and castle of Wood-Adam.
In 1827 also, the commune of Plorec, which formed before part of the canton of Plancoët, was attached to the canton of Plélan-the-Small.
Certain localities such as the village of the Temple seem to reveal the presence of the Templiers and/or the Hospitaliers of Midsummer's Day of Jerusalem (possession of the commandery of Lannouée, in Yvignac).
