Plon
Plon is a Belgian Publisher , founded by Henri Plon and its two brothers in 1852.
They are probably of downward distances of the typographer Danish Jehan Plon which lived at the end of the 16th century.
Description
Its activity covers three great fields: political history, literature and social sciences.
Its production was divided into several collections:
- Documents and Mémoires (large political characters)
- Romance (great authors, especially of the 20th century)
- Crossfires (foreign literature)
- Human Ground
History
It is into 1852 that are created the Plon Editions, by a family of printers of Danish origin. Henri Plon and his two brothers at that time accepted the title of “printer of the Emperor” and published the correspondences of Louis XIII, Marie-Antoinette and Napoleon.
The Plon Editions were repurchased by the group of the Presses of the City with the Éditions Perrin. This group is then repurchased by Havas in 1988 which places Olivier Orban at his head. In 2001, Havas is absorbed by Vivendi Universal. The Vivendi group meeting of serious financial problems, it yields several publishers, of which Plon, with Wendel Investissement, which gathers them within the group Editis.
