History

historical General information

  • Old parish, several times named in the cartulaire of Redon, bears the name of the Breton holy , Cadoc. Indeed, Pleucadeuc comes from the Breton Plou and from Cadoc : “the parish of Cadoc”.
  • In the year 837, a charter is signed in Pleucadeuc In Plebs Cadoci by a monk named Gias Cadoc (servant of Cadoc).

Before the dismemberment of the parishes at the 12th century, Pleucadeuc included the territory of Saint-Gongard, and the southernmost part of the town of Malestroit which was detached from it to constitute with Magdeleine, formerly in Missiriac, the parish castrale of Malestroit. The hermitage of Roga, today as Saint-Congard, is quoted in the parish of Pleucadeuc towards the end of the 11th century: “… partem Jarnuuin id is dimidium Botsarphin finem habens of summo larer and fronte has fluvio Cles usque AD flumen Ultre… sitam… in condita plebs Cadoc ” (Cart. Belch. Charter CCLV) and “ .locum which dicitur Rosgal At alio nominates which dicitur Botgarth ” (Cart. Belch. Charter CCLXVII).
  • Following the victory of Balloon to Bath-on-Oust in the year 845, Nominoë becomes king de Bretagne and it has its residence with Coët-Len, now common of Saint-Gongard.

  • With the Middle Ages, the châtellenie of Pleucadeuc depends on the county of Rochefort. It is the property of the families Rochefort, Rieux, Larlan and Hay of Nétumières.
