Plestin-the-Strikes

Plestin-the-Strikes is a common French, located in the department of the Coast-with Armor and the area Brittany.

It is a chief town of canton Trégor, and the Breton trégorrois was there until in the years 1950 the most used language.

Geography

The Plestinais littoral proposes to you Falaise S, rock splits, Plage S of fine sand and Lieue of Strike celebrates it. It is one of largest bays of Coast-in Armor and Brittany. It extends from Saint-Efflam to Saint-Michel-in-Strike on 4 km and the sea is withdrawn on 1,3 km.

The large rock culminates to 84 m, the protected site will make you discover the vastness of the mile of strike to 180°, it shelters there a reserve of Chauves-souris.

The back-country, paradise of the fishermen is also a space where live many marine birds such as the tadornes of Belon oyster, casarcas, brushes garzettes, will hérons ashy, martins fishing and other species limicolous.

The wild Orchidée is there present, among which two rare species, the Ophrys bee and the Anacamptis Pyramidalis.

History

This commune is quoted for its participation in the Révolte of the Red Bonnets which has occurred in 1675 in Brittany. One of its inhabitants was " excepté" royal amnesty of 1676.

Administration

Plestin-the-strikes is composed inter alia districts of Saint-Roch, Saint-Jagut, Saint-Efflam, Saint-Sebastien, Saint-Haran and Toul year Hery.

Places and monuments

The old port of Toul year Hery, on the estuary of the Douron, became a port shelter for yachtmen and the marina of Beg Douard on the point of Armorique.

At the time of the horse-races on the marine hippodrome, the beach of Saint-Efflam is metamorphosed and approximately: 1700 racegoers and holiday makers find themselves there to bet.

The Gallo-Roman thermal baths of Hogolo which date from year 50 are remarkably preserved in a littoral dune, only Gallo-Roman thermal baths restored and opened with the public.

Many vaults, castles and manors, a rich person cultural heritage and naturalness.

The water sports are practiced in Saint-Efflam. It is possible to practice Sand yacht, Catamaran, Planche with veil, Dériveur and Kayak of sea.
