Plessisville is a municipality of Canadian parish of the Quebec located in the regional Municipalité of county of the Maple and in the administrative area of the Center-of-Quebec. This one wedges the town of Plessisville
History
City creation and parish
- July 1st 1855: The village of Plessisville and the municipality of canton of Somerset are made up during original cutting of Quebec.
- 1857 : Somerset is divided into two municipalities of distinct canton: Somerset-North and Somerset-South
- 1946: Somerset-south changes its name for municipality of parish of Plessisville .
Origin of the name
The name of the Paroisse was given in the honor of Monseigneur Octave Plessis, bishop of Quebec at the beginning of the 19th century.First colonist
Jean-Baptiste Lafond, in 1835, was the first to be settled in the sector of Plessisville.
