Plessé
Plessé is a common French, located in the department of the Loire-Atlantique and the area Pays of the Loire, composed of three boroughs: Plessé, Coudray and Dresny.
The inhabitants of the commune name the Plésséens and Plésséennes .
Geography
Spruce with the characteristic to count three boroughs: Coudray and Dresny whose parishes were created in 1862-1863 and Plessé whose origin is older.The commune extends on nearly 10.400 ha (that is to say the surface of Paris will intra muros ) and constitutes the second vastest territory of Loire-Atlantique and the hundredth commune of France for its surface.
With the last census (carried out in 2005), Plessé counts 4162 inhabitants is an increase of almost 20% compared to the census of 1999.
History
Origin of the name: of Plebs Sei : people of Sée
The origins of the commune go back to prehistory. In testify the menhir to Pierre-Insane as well as the bracelets and the axes dated from the Bronze Age, found at the time of archaeological excavations. The Roman way going from Valves to Blain passes on the commune of Plessé. The borough was thus established on the vestiges of the Graeco-Roman civilization, having replaced itself a Celtic tribe.

From 897 to 903, Alain the Large one, duke of Brittany, raises his residence with Plessé, the castle of Sée. Its successors, however, settle in Rieux. At the beginning of the 14th century, Arthur II fact of building a chaplaincy with Rozay. The commune knows, like its neighbors, the invasions Normans. During the One hundred Year old war, the territory is devastated successively by the French and the English.
Dominated by the family of Rohan, of Blain, at the time of the wars of religion, Plessé became a place of refuge for the faithful ones of the reformed worship. In 1670, missionaries are sent to Plessé by the bishop of Nantes, in order to cause conversions with Catholicism. The wood of the commune shelter the fugitive ones at the time of the Revolution, following the disaster of Savenay, and of refractories also, in 1815 and 1832.
Years 1944-45 will count in the local history; Plessé being located just beside the Pocket of Saint-Nazaire which will be the last area of France to be released.

the October 18th 1882 is born in Plessé, Lucien Mazan, known as “Small Breton”, champion cycle having gained the Tour de France in 1907 and 1908.
