Pleasure (leisure)

The pleasure , or Navigation of leisure, is a nautical activity practiced on boats.

Characteristics

The Bateau X of pleasure of size variable, conceived and are arranged exclusively for the Croisière S or the regattas of relaxation.

The pleasure started to develop at the XIXe century in Western Europe and in the USA like in Australia and is practiced in particular on sailing . The sector of the motor boats strongly developed in second half of the XXe century. Since 2000, the catamarans have made also very important great strides, those are for 10 years very present in the catalogs of the agencies of hiring, their stability with the list, volumes of the cabins, and square spaces it, allow a great comfort.

The pleasure boats were initially built out of wood, but starting from second half of the XXe century, reinforced the glass fiber resin hulls dominated the market. Boats out of metal or wooden (laminated generally marinades) exist too.

In France, the Nautical trade fair (annual demonstration which is held in Paris, Porte de Versailles, in December with more than 300.000 visitors) is devoted to him. The pleasure, related to tourism justified the expensive one and many enlargings of ports, which often had important environmental impacts, for boats which often leave only a few days per annum.

Among the problems arising from the pleasure appear: chronic lack of place in the ports which should regularly be increased, the toxicity of the antifouling S, the medical problems involved in the evacuation of the WC maintaining often prohibited in the ports in Europe from where the appartition of the tanks with " water noires" of series on the recent models, and the “ end-of-life ” of the boats whose recycling was not envisaged by the manufacturers. The pleasure boats out of use (BPHU) in 2005 would correspond to approximately 5.000 tons of waste, but should approach or exceed the 20.000 tons in 2025 according to the Federation of nautical industries (END) which studies in 2006 the feasibility of a die of déconstruction. According to a study made by IFREMER on the macrodéchets, the yachtmen until in the Nineties contributed to pollute the littoral funds.

Harbor costs

They are always high for the new ports because in Western Europe by exempe, all the shelters naturally protected from the storms and currents are already occupied.
  • a new port is seldom profitable, this is why it is often conceived with promoters who associate speculative programs of real estate type, golf or marina to him.

In France; fast development

  • In 1966,30 000 boats, of generally modest size, wet - sometimes anarchically - in the basins of trade and fishing ports, and sheltered bay or estuary. A regular Progression of this number, generally estimated at 5%/an locally, encouraged an anarchistic development of individual dampings.

  • in 1990, approximately 250 marinas offered in France 150.000 moorings or dampings occupied permanently to 90% by " boats-ventouses" (which does not leave or little at sea).
  • In 2003, the growth of the market was estimated at 5% in the year (to 944 million euros).
  • In 2004, the growth of this sector would have known a progression from 6 to 10% (21.000 new registrations)
  • In 2005, a growth of 6% was hoped by the market
  • In 2007, the promoters of the pleasure estimate that one would need 50.000 places moreover in the French ports. According to the ministry for Transport, there would be 4.5 million yachtmen in France, owners or tenants (leasing.) of 789.000 boats disseminated in 370 ports.

Many creation projects of marinas exist in Europe, with speculative aimings. Their promoters justify them by prospects for employment (estimated for France by a study at 1,5 direct use and 17 at 21 indirect employment generated for 100 stations of mooring, figures difficult to confirm, because the port falls under a tourist context much broader, and sometimes in bond with other speculative operations of real type, golf, allotments, etc).

The agencies of hiring, also contribute to the explosion of the pleasure in high season. In France, the Permis sea is not obligatory to sail, even for a surmotorized sailing ship, because the sail constitutes the means of principal propulsion, thus any amateur can rent a Voilier. These boats are often those which at sea pass the greatest number of days.
