Recording and left
As it was necessary that the album contains fourteen songs, ten additional songs were to be made to add them to the four songs of their the first two individual, which appear on the album. At 10 a.m., in the morning of February 11th, 1963, the Studios Abbey Road, Beatles and George Martin started to record what was their new songs played in their concerts in 1962, and finished the recording only 585 minutes later (9 hours and 45 minutes)! In three sessions this day (each one during three hours), they produced an authentic representation of what they played Cavern Club at their beginnings. George Martin said: “It was a strong performance of their repertory of scene — a review, let us say”. The day finished with the recording of the resumption of Twist and Shout , which had to be recorded at the end, because John Lennon had a very bad Rhume and George Martin feared that the evil of throat does not reduce the performance of the voice of Lennon for the day. This performance, generally recognized like traditional, made say to Martin: “I do not know how they made”. This song was enregitrée in only one catch!. George Martin said: “There was not much money at Parlophone. I worked for an annual salary of only 55 000 euros”.
The song Please Please Me was recorded on a machine of only two tracks, with the accompaniment on the first track and the voice over the second. On the version mono, nothing appears to with it, because the two tracks are placed together on the mixing. On the other hand, on the version stereo, the music is placed on the left and the voices are placed on the line of the mixed sound, which does not give a good sound balance.
The album Please Please to Me was officially published on CD the February 26th 1987, at the same time as three other albums of Beatles ( With the Beatles , has Hardware Day' S Night and Beatles for Sale ), all in mono only.
The cover of the album
George Martin, who was familiar of the zoo of London, thought that it would be a good publicity for the zoo to photograph Beatles outside the house of the insects for the photograph of the cover of Please Please Me . However, the zoo refused the offer of Martin. Angus McBean was thus called to take the photograph where Beatles look in bottom of the steps leading to the offices of EMI.
