Play of the year

The Jeu of the year is a reward decreed with new a board game. This price, created in 2002, reward a play:

published during the previous year,
entirely in French language (rule and material of play),
available in a sufficient number of sales outlets.

The price is generally decreed in October, after deliberation of an independent jury, trained journalists, ludothécaires and specialists.

In 2005, the Jeu of the Year amalgamated with the As of Gold of the Festival of the plays of Cannes. The new price, resulting from this fusion, is called temporarily As of Gold Play of the year. According to the agreement occurred between the two prices, the expression As of Gold should disappear to leave like name only the Jeu of the year ; however, there will be always mention of the town of Cannes.
