Play of stamp

The play of stamp is a musical instrument of the family of the percussions.

It is composed of steel blades which comes to strike a hammer. These hammers are generally actuated by a keyboard. Its wide extent is the following one:

Its stamp is rather dissimilar Celesta or Glockenspiel. Indeed, it is very piercing and of a powerful attack. Thus the soft nuances are almost impossible for him. He gets along very well in a tutti of orchestra charged. It is however possible of aténuer slightly the sound of the play of stamp by recovering the instrument, exepté the keyboard, of a thick linen.

One finds many examples of use of them, in particular at Ravel ( Daphnis and Chloé " scene of the pirates" , My Mother Oye " Laideronette empress of the pagodes").
