Plates DIEM

Plates DIEM or plates of deposit make it possible to measure the dry atmospheric repercussions according to Standard NF X 43-007.

They consist of thin sections out of aluminum (or stainless steel) of 5x10cm covered with a film of greasy substance which retains the sedimentable Poussières dry.

After exposure during 1 or 2 weeks (Maximum to avoid scrubbing by the bad weather), the plates are sent in laboratory where the particles are recovered after separation of with the greasy Substance in a solvent.

The mass of the particles is determined, and possible chemical analyzes are carried out.

The principal disadvantage of the use of this system comes owing to the fact that the plates also undergo the weather action: scrubbing by the rain, neutralization by the white frost or snow, and also masking by the falls of sheets or other deposits…

Automatic apparatuses can provide an equivalent and continuous measurement.
