Plate of Nazca

The plate of Nazca is a Tectonic plate of the Lithosphère of the Planet Ground. Its surface is of 0,396 69 Stéradian S. One generally associates with it the plates of the Easter Island, the Galápagos and Juan Fernandez. The plate of Nazca draws its name from the Peruvian province of Nazca.
It covers part of the East of the Pacific Ocean including the islands Galápagos and the Easter Island. It does not comprise any part Continent ale and is not thus made up that of oceanic Lithosphère.
The plate of Nazca is in contact with the plates peaceful, of the Easter Island, Juan Fernández, the Antarctic, South American, of the Altiplano, the the Andes of North, Panamá and the Galápagos.
Its borders with the other plates are formed of the Fosse of Peru and Chile on the peaceful coast of dorsal and South America of the Galápagos, of the Pacifique Is and of the Chile in the Pacific Ocean.
The displacement of the plate of Nazca is done towards the North-East at a speed of 7,55 centimetres per annum on average or at a number of revolutions of 1,3599° per million of years according to a pole eulérien located at 55°58' of Northern Latitude and 90°10' of Longitude Western (référentiel : peaceful Plate).
With triple junction of the plates of Nazca, South American and the Antarctic occurred a great setback considered as the cause of the Séisme called the Grand earthquake of the Chile of magnitude 9,5 in 1960.
The plate of Nazca (with the plates of the Coconuts, of Juan de Fuca, Will rivet, Explorer and Gorda) constitutes a remainder of the Plaque Farallon which almost completely disappeared by Subduction under the American continent with the Jurassic .
