The plate of Kerguelen is a Grande igneous province Volcanique of the Indian Ocean. It is located at 3000 km in the South-west of Australia and measurement nearly three times the size of Japan. The plate extends on more than 2200 km in the South-eastern North-western direction and is immersed out of deep water. The plate is at a hot spot of the earth's crust or a plume mantellic starting or succeeding the parcelling out of Gondwana there are 130 million years. There is a small portion of the plate which is with the top of the Sea level, constituting the islands Kerguelen, the island Heard and the islands McDonald. An intermittent volcanicity remains on the Heard island and the McDonald islands.
