Planica
Planica is a alpine Vallée of the North-West of the Slovenia, which extends to the south from the border from the town of Rateče, located not far from famous the Winter sports resort of Kranjska Gora. More in the south of the valley is the National park of Triglav, famous for its walks.
Planica and its springboards
The valley is famous also to accommodate international competitions of Ski jump and Vol to ski. Its first springboard was built before 1930 on the one slope of the Ponca mountain. In 1934, Stanko Bloudek builds a large springboard, called the Mammoth Hill . The first jump beyond the 100 meters was carried out here in 1936 by the Austrian Sepp Bradl. There is also the largest springboard of the world in the valley called the mother off all jumping hills .
In 1969, new K-185 (comparable distance from reference, 185 meters) was built by Lado and Janez Gorisek. Since 1986, when Matti Nykanen atteigna the distance of 191 meters, the majority of the many records of the discipline (about thirty approximately) take place with Planica that on any other springboard. In 1994, the Finnish Toni Nieminen is the first jumper to exceed the 200 meters, and the last recorded record (239 meters) was carried out by the Norwegian Bjørn Einar Romøren in 2005.
The infrastructures of the springboard were judged désuettes in 2001, indeed the old springboard of sagging Bloudek but was not rebuilt because of administrative problems. Nevertheless, the continuous International federation of ski to authorize the competitions on this springboard in waiting of a future center of the winter sports (in project).
