Anecdotes
Since the beginnings of Star Trek , many televiewers wondered why the crews of the various vessels much more often visited of planets of class M than of the strange worlds. The probable reason is extremely simple: with its beginnings, the production of the original series had a modest budget not making it possible to produce expensive special effects. It was thus much more economic to turn of the scenes in outside rather than in studio. One also advanced the idea has that a species, called the Progéniteur S, would have sown most of the universe and that it was easier to make evolve/move species humanoïdes on planets similar to the Earth.
Lastly, Spock gives itself of it the explanation by evoking the fact that the evolution of the life is identical on all the worlds.
